Mentioned in charters, throughout the ages, as the Holy Voivodes Monastery of Vaideei, Ianache’s Slobozia, then to Slobozia, the oldest monastery in eastern Wallachia, preserved til today, has its beginnings in the second decade of the seventeenth century. In March 1614, Prince Radu Mihnea grant to the great seneschal Ianache Caragea the right to found a “slobozia” to Vaideei, it is a tax freesettlement in three years, that was settled by the colonists. There in the middle Baragan wouldmarshal Ianache Caragea based the Holy Voivodes Monastery.
