STRACHINA LAKE – it is an estuary on the lower reaches of the Ialomita Valley, its surface is 10 km2 , 9.5 km length, 1.5 km width and 3 m depth.

JILAVELE AND RATCA LAKES (FISHING)

JILAVELE LAKE is situated in Ialomita Meadow, on the left shore, with a surface of 4.5km2 , a 6km lengh and 3 m depth. The lake is used to irrigate and for fishing.
RATCA LAKE is situated in Sarata Meadow, left tributary of Ialomita River.

FUNDATA LAKE

Its surface is 510 ha, is situated on Reviga Valley, a 20 km distance from Slobozia. The south part of the lake has brackish water, meanwhile in the north part the lake has freshwater and contains many fish species. Its depth is 5 m. Fundata Lake was the first to be protected area in Ialomita County since 2002, and 4 years later it was included in “Natura 2000” european program. This area represents a fairy regarding avifauna in all seasons. Every spring, thousands of rare or very rare birds chose to stop on their migration, from north to south, on Fundata Lake.
The therapeutic value of the lake and the healing effects of therapeutic mud from the lake are long known by the locals. Without being arranged any place on the banks of the lake, especially before 1989, during the summer time, the lake was visited by people in the area for baths and mud treatments.
In this habitat, there were identified over 80 species of birds, about a quarter of which are very rare, European interest, whose grip or hunting is strictly prohibited. We mention : the arctic loon, pigeon hawk. There are very rare species in the world, that are coming every year and we cannot risk to lose this by accepting Fundata as an area for hunting. In Fundata, approximately one third of all bird species identified in Romania stop annually on the lake waters.
